This product is Energy Star verified. What this verification means is that the Kenmore 83396 adheres to regulations regarding energy consumption. The 83396 is also AHAM verified, which means it was put through AHAM’s testing process, confirming that the products CADR score is accurate. Finally, this unit has received verification from CARB.
The Kenmore 83396 will consume a maximum of 101W of electricity, and it is estimated that this machine will cost in the range of $34-$36 per annum, this of course depending on the level of its usage. Unfortunately, this unit does not have an auto or sleep function, meaning it cannot operate as efficiently as some of the other purifiers we have reviewed.
Weighing 17lbs, the Kenmore 83396 is relatively light. This allows for it to be transported throughout your home without excessive effort. While this unit does not avail of sleep and auto functions, it does boast a timer and scheduler, meaning it can be programmed to operate while you are out of the house, which is always a useful feature.
The 83396 has a decibel rating of 62.4dB when functioning at its highest speed, which is only slightly louder than an average conversation (60dB).
The Kenmore 83396 does not have any handles or transport-aiding features, however, due to its light weight this may be forgiven. The machine’s size is also ideal for moving about the house, as it is not too large or invasive.
Aesthetically, we loved the simplicity Kenmore employed in designing the 83396. While arguably the appearance of your purifier is not a very important detail, it is still an added bonus when a company puts effort, understanding that this appliance will likely be in your own living room.
Help & Support
As far as Help & Support are concerned, do not lose your physical copy of the user manual, as there is no downloadable copy to be found online. Should you have any issues with this product, the company can be contacted via live chat or email.
This product benefits from a one-year warranty, which is quite short by industry standards. Contact Kenmore for more details on their warranty related policies.
In summary, this machine is a decent middle-range air purifier. By all accounts it serves its function, and looks sleek while doing so. However, if we at Air Conditioners Rated have one criticism, it is the conveniences that were needlessly left out of the design. The lack of an auto or sleep function detracts away hugely from the overall convenience of the device.
